Biography:

Senior Soldier Petro Korol, with the pseudonym “KIT-KAT”, was killed on 10 March 2022 in the city of Mariupol in Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained injuries incompatible with life. He will be 24 forever.

Petro was born in the settlement of Prymorskyi in Crimea. He moved away after the annexation. He became a co-founder of the military community “Company Group Team”. In 2018, he joined the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Three years later, he transferred to the Separate Special Purpose Detachment of the “Azov” Regiment. He served in Mariupol. He was an assistant grenadier.

“Petia was my beloved. We met in 2021 through Instagram. From the first meeting, we were like kindred spirits. A week before the full-scale invasion, we rented an apartment in Mariupol. On the evening of 20 February 2022, he was called to service. Already in the hallway, he kissed me on the nose and said: ‘Be strong, no matter what.’ I never saw him again — we only messaged,” Khrystyna Petrachenko said.

She received the last message from her beloved on 4 March.

“He sent his photo and wrote: ‘Sunshine, everything is fine. There is absolutely no connection. I have a new number. I will call you when it’s possible. I’m alive, I’m lucky — spit-spit-spit. Everything will be fine.’ And on the night of 11 March, his best friend wrote to me: ‘Petro 200’,” Khrystyna shared.

Petro was a patriot, brave and courageous. In difficult moments, he always came to help.

“He was an incredibly kind, bright, honest, warm person. Cheerful, purposeful, strong-willed, and very disciplined. He lived a healthy lifestyle and practiced different sports. He loved reading. In his free time, Petia took film photos of the world around him. He played the guitar. He knew many songs. He dreamed that when we would liberate Crimea, he would return there again. That is why Petia’s last wish was for his ashes to be scattered over liberated Crimea,” Khrystyna said.

During his service, he received the distinction “Kozatskyi Khrest”, 2nd Class, the breast badge “For Exemplary Military Service”, 3rd Class, and posthumously — the Order “For Courage”, 3rd Class.

A farewell to Petro took place on 10 June 2023 at the crematorium in the capital. The urn with the warrior’s ashes is kept by “Company Group Team”.

He is survived by his friends and his beloved.
