Biography:

Yevhen Oleksiiovych Zalyvatskyi was born on December 31, 1994, in the city of Lysychansk (Luhansk Oblast). From an early age—being very active and full of life—he did boxing and always developed physically. He graduated from the Lysychansk Multidisciplinary Gymnasium, after which he entered service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He had many friends, played the guitar skillfully, and was the life of any company. In the supporters’ stands of his hometown club, he joined the SPC collective. Courageous and honest, Yevhen faced any challenges of life and danger without fear.

With the beginning of Russia’s invasion in the east in 2014, “Lys” defended our Motherland in the ATO. He received the military rank of Senior Sergeant. Alongside his military service, he did not forget about education. In 2018, he graduated from Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University of Ukraine and earned a Bachelor of Laws degree. In the same year, he entered service in the National Police of Ukraine, held the position of detective (operational officer) of the Popasna Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Luhansk Oblast, and received the special rank of Police Lieutenant.

Having defended the borders of our state at the start of Russian aggression, this brave and just Warrior could not remain on the sidelines now either. On February 24, taking up arms, he went to defend the country’s free future. “I may die, but I will not let the enemy step onto our land, and someday songs and legends will be written about me and those like me,” “Lys” said. And these words of a faithful son of Ukraine must come true. Yevhen Zalyvatskyi was killed on March 2, 2022, as a result of a missile strike on the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv.

Yevhen’s family and friends recall that he was a truly remarkable person who always knew how to savor life. Everywhere he said—and believed—that we would surely overcome everyone. The memory of the brave young man with a beauty mark above his lip is forever etched in the hearts of those who met him on his life’s path. Each time they hear or say “Glory to the Heroes,” those who love him know it is about their best son, friend, and brother-in-arms.

Eternal honor to the Hero!
