Senior operator of a special-purpose group within a Special Operations Forces detachment. He was born in Lysychansk. He received a higher education in civil engineering at the Kyiv Institute of Civil Engineering. From the first days of March 2022, he joined the special-purpose units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Professionally trained, conscientious, and demanding of himself, he possessed strong moral and psychological qualities, made timely and correct decisions, quickly assessed situations, and acted skillfully under extreme conditions. While carrying out combat missions as part of a special-purpose group, he demonstrated courage, professionalism, resilience, and determination. Denys successfully completed numerous command missions aimed at destroying enemy personnel. On multiple occasions, he conducted special reconnaissance behind enemy lines, gathering information about the locations of enemy personnel, concentrations of military equipment, and hostile formations. He took part in extremely difficult operations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as in Kharkiv, Kherson, and Sumy regions. Remaining faithful to his military oath and to the Ukrainian people, defending the independence and territorial integrity of our state to the end, Denys Hranevskyi was killed on 11 September while carrying out a combat mission near Mykolaivka, Kherson Oblast. He fell as a Hero. By decree of the President of Ukraine, for personal courage and selfless actions shown in defense of Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for loyalty to the military oath during the Russian-Ukrainian war, he was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.
