Oleh Sukhomlyn “Mer” 37 years old In August 2025, he gave his life for the freedom of Ukraine. Soldier, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operator, command-and-control section of the commander of the 1st Self-Propelled Artillery Battery, Self-Propelled Artillery Battalion, 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was born on June 3, 1988, in the city of Dnipro. He worked as a sandblaster at a machine-building plant. From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Oleh went to defend his homeland. He went from a combat medic to a UAV operator. On August 30, 2025, near the village of Novohryshyne, Pokrovsk District, Donetsk Oblast, “Mer” was killed. Oleh defended his loved ones and Ukraine’s independence until his last breath. Oleh’s brothers-in-arms remember that he was one of the best pilots and taught them how to repair and operate UAVs.
