Oleksandr was born on 25 March 1994 in Zaporizhzhia region. From childhood he was active, practicing freestyle wrestling and football, and later boxing. Sport hardened his character and taught him discipline and endurance. In 2012, Oleksandr became part of the Baburka Front fan group and supported Zaporizhzhia’s Metalurh across Ukraine. Over time, he revived the group and became its leader. His brothers-in-arms and loved ones remember “SHOROH” as a stubborn truth-seeker, a brave, proactive, and highly motivated man. He was not afraid of responsibility and always wanted to be where things were most difficult. From 2015 to 2018, Oleksandr defended Ukraine in the Azov Regiment. He served on the Lebedynske, Hnutove, and Chermalyk axes. After completing his service, he continued his path in a special police unit, constantly learning and developing professionally. Sport remained an important part of his life. Oleksandr practiced boxing and Muay Thai, headed the Sports Corps in Zaporizhzhia, trained young people, and encouraged them through his own example to become stronger. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, “SHOROH” was serving in a special unit of the National Police. He operated on the Zaporizhzhia axis, including near Orikhiv, Vasylivka, and Kamianske, and served as a mortar crew commander. In the summer of 2023, Oleksandr transferred to the 12th Azov Brigade. On the Lyman axis, he commanded a Hyacinth howitzer crew and later joined the Contact12 special-purpose group. Near Terny, on one of the most difficult sectors at the time, he worked as part of a UAV crew, helping stop daily enemy assaults. But behind the call sign “SHOROH” there was always a person: a husband, a father, a loved one, a friend, a leader. A man who protected his family from the terrible details of war and carried his responsibility in silence. On 4 March 2024, Oleksandr Derhach was killed while carrying out a combat mission near Kramatorsk. He was buried at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. Oleksandr was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class. He will forever be 29. We remember Oleksandr “SHOROH” Derhach. We remember his path, his strength, his principles, and his devotion to Ukraine. Heroes live as long as their memory lives. Eternal memory. Honor.
