"VITOK"

Olshanskyi Viktor

14.04.1977 - 19.11.2025

1st Border Guard Detachment, 1st Rapid Response Border Commandant’s Office

Biography:

His life path was a map of Ukraine: from his native Melitopol to sunny Crimea, from Odesa to Vinnytsia. A son of the sea and the steppe, he was a man of exceptional intelligence and education. A graduate of the Odesa Hydrometeorological Institute, he was an oceanographic engineer. Water was his element. Viktor devoted most of his life to peaceful and noble work in irrigation, bringing water to Ukrainian soil so that gardens could bloom and fields could flourish on dry land. But when the enemy came to burn our land and take our sea, the oceanographer and agricultural specialist took up arms. In June 2024, he joined the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. After training, he went where the fighting was most difficult. In a short period of service, he received the “Defender of the Motherland” medal, was granted combat veteran status, and earned the boundless respect of his brothers-in-arms. Faithful to his military oath and to the Ukrainian people, courageously fulfilling his military duty in battle for Ukraine, its sovereignty and independence, Captain Olshanskyi gave his life on the eastern front on 19 November 2025. He will forever be 48… Viktor left behind two young children—his hope and pride—to whom he gave all of himself and all of his boundless fatherly love. His wife became a widow; for her, Viktor was an entire universe. The war forever separated a family in which love and tenderness lived. Rest in peace, “VITOK.” Your watch on earth is over. Now you hold up the sky. Our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues. We share your immeasurable grief. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero!
